I believe it was around May 2022 when I first discussed this project with Motofumi “POGGY” Kogi, who collaborates with us at LWLC. He told me he was going to be working officially with Porsche Japan and wanted my advice on various aspects of the project. At least, I think that’s how it went… my memory has been getting a bit fuzzy lately (laughs). At the same time, my own collaboration with Type7 was in progress, so over the past two and a half years, we’ve been exchanging information and working in parallel, which feels quite sentimental when I think about it.
The highlight of this project is the Sonderwunsch (which means “special request”), a pinnacle offering from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur that enables customers to create a truly one-of-a-kind Porsche. POGGY’s personal Sonderwunsch build has been completed. For more details, check out the article on Honeycomb, where I also got a small mention.
Under POGGY’s direction, a Porsche apparel line will be exclusively available through Baycrew’s from January 31 at SELECT by BAYCREW’S in Toranomon Hills. Until March 4, POGGY’s custom Porsche 911 Type 992.1 Carrera T will also be on display at the location, so if you’re in the area, definitely go take a look.
The leather-upholstered trunk! The small square compartment holds a first-aid kit, and the long horizontal storage case above contains a warning triangle.
The rear side of the seats features a combination of leather and wood paneling!
When POGGY first consulted me, I showed him some vintage materials I had, including images of tartan fabric seat designs frequently used in 1970s G-Series Porsches (known as the 930 in Japan) and the 3.0L 930 Turbo. Inspired by those, he requested PAG to produce custom Dress MacKenzie tartan check seats. The final result turned out to be distinctly him, and I found it truly inspiring. You can check out a documentary video of the journey behind this creation here.
The center gauge of the Porsche 911 Type 992.1 (pre-facelift) is the last analog meter of its kind. With the 992.2 (facelift) model announced last fall, Porsche has now fully transitioned to digital displays. This capsule collection apparel is also available online, so those who can’t visit the store in person can purchase it there. Additionally, a few remaining 7wheeler collaboration items from the LOOPWHEELER x Type7 collection are still available at Type7.com. Make sure to grab them before they’re gone!
