Every year, we produce a two-color border fabric, but this year, we have knitted a three-color border TSURIAMI jersey. It has been quite a while since we last made one. Sales will begin in Sendagaya on Thursday, March 13, Osaka on Friday, March 14, and Fukuoka on Saturday, March 15.
The color variations include White x Blue x Navy and White x Gray Melange x Black.
The pattern is based on the LW313 Relax Fit Sweatshirt, fine-tuned specifically for the three-color border design.
Sizes range from S to L, and the price is 27,500 yen (tax included).
Generally, TSURIAMIKI cannot knit border patterns. I often mention this, but if a vintage garment from before the 1960s were to feature this kind of pre-dyed border pattern, it would either be astronomically valuable or a modern counterfeit made with ill intent. Knitting a border pattern requires a switching device, which was invented in the 1970s. So how are we able to knit borders using a TSURIAMIKI? The answer lies in an old switching device that had been left collecting dust in the warehouse of Kanekichi Industries. By restoring it and combining it with a TSURIAMIKI, we pursued the idea that it might be possible to knit the world’s first TSURIAMI border fabric. Thanks to the dedication and expertise of Kanekichi Industries’ craftsmen, we succeeded in making TSURIAMI border knitting a reality. Moreover, producing a three-color border is even more difficult than a two-color one, and the production efficiency is significantly lower.
Hoping to preserve this technique for future generations, we decided to knit a three-color border this year. We would be delighted if you like it. In April, we hope to introduce short-sleeve versions as well, so please look forward to them. Thank you for your continued support.
