We have also completed the relaxed-fit crewneck sweatshirt, made with the same LW Heavyweight 20/2 TSURIAMI Jersey. LOOPWHEELER’s standard TSURIAMI Jersey lineup consists of two types: 30/2 (mid-weight), mainly used for T-shirts, and 20/2 (heavyweight), used in this release.
I may have mentioned this countless times before, but for those who are new to LW News, here’s a quick explanation. TSURIAMI Loopback is knitted using three different yarns—outer, middle, and inner yarns, whereas TSURIAMI Jersey is knitted with a single yarn. You might be wondering, What does knitting with a single yarn look like?—it’s not an easy concept to grasp right away. Since I can’t fully explain it here, I’ll skip the detailed breakdown.
However, the biggest challenge is determining the optimal yarn thickness and softness, as well as adjusting the knitting machine settings to control the fabric's density (tightness), which ultimately limits the maximum fabric width.
Simply put, wider fabric requires less material per garment, while narrower fabric requires more. Naturally, narrower fabric is cheaper per unit width than wider fabric. However, balancing fabric width and material usage becomes one of the biggest challenges during production.
Another challenge is that TSURIAMI Jersey must be knitted on a large-diameter TSURIAMIKI to maintain flexibility in design. Otherwise, the fabric's design possibilities become very limited. The reality is that large-diameter TSURIAMIKI machines are rare, making them highly sought after.
This release includes three new colors—Magenta (which I love!), Light Green, and Smoke—along with the classic colors Gray Melange, Navy, and Black, making for a total of six color options. Available sizes range from S to L, and the price is 20,900 JPY (tax included).
Just like the LW223 Standard-Fit Crew Sweatshirt, sales will begin on Wednesday, February 5, at the Sendagaya store, followed by Thursday, February 6, in Osaka, and Friday, February 7, in Fukuoka.
I wasn’t able to grab the Magenta and Light Green colorways from the LW Light series, so this time, I’m definitely getting my hands on them! Looking forward to seeing you in-store!
