Two geniuses met at MADLANE in Maniwa City, Okayama, on February 9. Perhaps this is what the beginning of a legend looks like.
When we first began planning the uniform production and capsule collection for LUFT TOKYO, we were thinking of expressing it using the LOOPWHEELER katakana font. At the same time, another idea came to mind. As part of LUFT TOKYO content, we thought it would be great to hold a live painting session in Tokyo, something that is often done at LUFT events overseas.
The moment that thought came to me, Yoichiro Uchida's shy smile, also known as POPW, who drives an air-cooled 930 89 Carrera, immediately came to mind. If Kazuo Ohashi of MADLANE was willing to support the idea, I kept imagining how incredible it would look if black ink arrows were painted onto the pure white body of the 935ML that had been finished fully from scratch.
Takada-san spoke with Ohashi-kun, and I shared this idea with Uchida-kun. I apologized for the limited budget, but both of them kindly agreed to take part. Even today, March 6, Uchida kun has gone to Maniwa on his own and is continuing the drawing work.
On the day of LUFT TOKYO on March 14, time will be limited, and it will be difficult to complete everything there. So we decided to work on the larger drawing elements in advance, and then finish the piece on the day with an additional 3 to 4 hours of live work.
We would be very happy if you could watch Uchida-san’s live painting on the day! Thank you very much.
With that in mind, it felt natural to ask Uchida-san to also create the graphic for the LUFT TOKYO LOOPWHEELER capsule collection.
First, the main graphic for the CREW uniform has come together like this. I like it very much. We will share more about the capsule collection soon, so please look forward to it. In the meantime, tickets for entry are available here. Thank you very much. @Satoshi Suzuki
