Thank you for waiting. The KD-150, the special sweatshirt commemorating the 150th anniversary of Kaikado, will finally go on sale at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. It will be available exclusively at the Kaikado Main Store. The address is 84-1 Umenosato-cho, Kawaramachi-Rokujyo, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto.
With the KD-150, we believe we have further evolved the knitting technique of 100% cotton TSURIAMI Fleece we have developed over the years. Without the passion of Mr. Takahiro Yagi, the sixth-generation head of Kaikado, Mr. Minakata, President of Kanekichi Industries, and myself, this would not have been possible. It has been an incredible learning experience for us. We feel that this project has opened up a new frontier for us.
The katakana name on the sleeve cuff spells "カイカドウ" (Kaikado) in LOOPWHEELER font. The body pattern was newly created by our LW pattern maker, Ishimoto, specifically for this fabric. The fit is slightly more relaxed than usual, offering a comfortable feel.
The left chest features embroidery of "1875," the year of Kaikado's founding, along with "KD-150." We tested many different embroidery threads before settling on this color. We are truly grateful to our embroidery craftsman, Mr. Kasai — thank you very much!
It is difficult to fully convey without seeing it in person, but the mélange of gray and brown creates a truly special look. We feel honored to have been able to celebrate Kaikado’s 150th anniversary through this collaboration.
The inside of the fabric is beautiful as well. It has a certain distinctly Japanese quality to it. Available in four sizes, S to XL. Retail price is ¥36,300 (tax included).
We would be delighted if you could enjoy this piece alongside a Kaikado tea caddy, feeling the passage of time through its craftsmanship. Please note that it will not be available at the three LOOPWHEELER stores — only at the Kaikado Main Store in Kyoto. Once again, congratulations to everyone at Kaikado on your 150th anniversary! We are looking forward to the event in October, and we sincerely appreciate your continued partnership!
