Kaikado 150th Anniversary

This year marks the 150th anniversary of Kaikado, a company that I deeply respect and have had the pleasure of working with. More than just a business partner, Takahiro Yagi, the sixth-generation owner, is also a dear friend whom I greatly admire. Both as LOOPWHEELER and on a personal level, I want to celebrate this milestone wholeheartedly. We are working on a special collaborative project that I hope everyone will enjoy, so please look forward to it!

Here’s a picture from May last year, taken at Kanekichi Industry, where Yagi-san is inspecting freshly knitted prototype fabrics.

When you see the actual material, you might wonder how we achieved this melange effect. It’s a technique of such complexity that even seasoned experts in this field find it difficult to analyze. We pushed the boundaries of textile craftsmanship to achieve this.

The katakana name reads “Kaikado.”

The Blik-kun illustration—created as a special anniversary tribute by artist Keigo Kamide.

The tote bag was not produced by us, but I wonder if it will be available for purchase?

The 150th Anniversary Sweatshirt is currently in production! Once it’s ready, we’ll share more details about its release and purchasing options. This is definitely a must-have item! Please stay tuned for updates.
