The Mega LOOPWHEELER TSURIAMI loopback, first produced in 2023, enters its third year this season. It’s beyond super—an ultra heavyweight fabric—but still manages to retain the signature softness of LOOPWHEELER. That’s thanks to the dedication and passion of CEO Minamikata-san of Kanekichi Industries and Factory Manager Okaya, who poured their hearts into this creation. The outer yarn is GR4 count 20 single yarn (a lighter gray melange), the middle yarn is natural 20 single right-twist, and the inner yarn is natural 8 single, knitted together. A hallmark of this Mega fabric is the way the loops are knitted to maintain density while varying in length randomly, allowing them to lean slightly. Compared to our standard LW Light or LW Basic, where the loops are uniform, the variation in length here creates a distinct hand feel.

Sales begin Tuesday, September 23 at Sendagaya, and Friday, September 26 in Osaka and Fukuoka. Available in four sizes from S to XL. Retail price is ¥37,400 (tax included). While not quite a relaxed fit, the pattern allows for a bit more room than usual—I wear a size S in this one (while I wear M in the LW01).
