First produced in 23AW, the “100-Year Brushed” fabric has been becoming a yearly autumn/winter staple. There’s a sense of responsibility—almost a mission—to ensure that this brushing machine from 100 years ago is preserved for the next generation, and that’s why we continue to make it each year.
The unique feature of this century-old brushing machine is that it can brush the fabric in its tubular state, without opening it up after knitting. As a result, unlike modern brushing machines that produce a uniform and neat brushed surface, this one gives a fluffy, almost sheep-like “fuwamoko” texture. It has an indescribably pleasant feel against the skin—something we truly hope you’ll experience.
Because the machine was built about 100 years ago, we call it the “100-Year Brushed.” Many of the TSURIAMI machines still operating at Kanekichi Industries are also about 100 years old, so there’s a natural harmony between them.
This season, it comes in three variations: a gray two-tone type combining Gray Melange with finely detailed ribbing in a slightly different shade, a solid Navy, and—for the first time this year—Black. Available in four sizes from S to XL. Retail price is ¥29,700 (tax included). Sales begin on Thursday, September 11 at Sendagaya, Friday, September 12 in Osaka, and Saturday, September 13 in Fukuoka. Every year, it tends to sell out once the weather turns cold, so even though it’s still warm, we encourage you to stop by and try it on.
